Jacques Blom

Jacques Blom lives in Johannesburg, South Africa, with his wife and two young boys. In March 2004 he received the diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). He was only 28 at the time. Jacques describes that time four years ago as surreal and scary, but he came to accept his diagnosis and stayed positive.

Jacques is thankful that there is a program like GIPAP; otherwise he would not have access to treatment. He is amazed by the scope of the GIPAP™ operation and feels very privileged to be part of the global program.

Today, Jacques lives a full life again. Treatment has worked very well controlling his CML for more than four years. Having CML has made Jacques a more responsible person in terms of his health. He values his family highly, and enjoys his time with them immensely. Jacques has a simple message for other cancer patients: "Keep positive. Live life fully. Keep your family close by."
